About Me

I’m Suzanne Destfino, a Northern California native and a 'Xennial' who has spent a lifetime gathering perspectives from across the U.S. When I founded Zen Dragon Therapy, I wanted to capture the balance between Zen Buddhist principles and the transformative power of the Dragon. I believe we all hold an innate power to heal; sometimes, we just need a guide to help us access that power.

My approach has evolved significantly over my almost 20-year career. After a decade in Community Mental Health rooted in evidence-based practices like CBT, I began to lean into more holistic, somatic-based healing. Today, I specialize in Somatic Therapy including EMDR and Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy, focusing on the profound connection between the mind and body. I’ve found that while the mind can think through solutions, the body often holds the keys to lasting relief.

I believe the relationship between therapist and client is the cornerstone of success. I bring my whole self to this work—including the insights I’ve gained from my own years of personal therapy. Integrity and transparency are my biggest values, and I’m always happy to answer any questions you have.

Whether your path leads you to me or someone else, I truly hope you find the healing you’re seeking.
